My husband Kenya still catches the train to his downtown office each morning. For years,
public transportation has been his preferred method of travel when heading into the heart of
the city of Buffalo.

This hasn’t changed, even after a somewhat odd and for some, pretty scary incident occurred
last year. It all happened in October 2012 while he and other passengers were riding along as
they normally do any other day.

Without warning, Buffalo’s metro rail system experienced mechanical difficulties and abruptly
shut down.

Just like that, they all were stuck in the underground tunnel waiting.

As you can imagine, for many, panic set in. There they were, feeling trapped below ground
level, without cell phone reception and no idea how long the train would be immobile.

No ma’am, no sir. Not cool.

There was no way out, nowhere to go. It’s understandable that they were shaken up by it.
Kenya, who is very calm and even-tempered by nature, didn’t freak out too much.  But others,
he said, did not handle being trapped, with no idea of when this ordeal would all be over.

The whole thing ended up lasting only for about an hour, though it felt much longer. Doesn’t
time always seem to move at a snail’s pace in negative circumstances? If time flies when you’re
having fun, it most certainly crawls when you’re not.

Once people got free, many of them vowed they would never ride the train again. “They said
even if it puts me an hour behind schedule, I don’t care, I’m not catching the train!” Kenya told
me.

No one likes feeling stuck.

When you do, it seems like you’ll be in that predicament always and forever, doesn’t it?
But you know what? Trouble doesn’t last always. Even though trials, tests and turmoil often
linger much longer than we had hoped they would, God already has a plan.

But in the frustration and inconvenience of the moment, we feel like the temporary position is a
permanent condition. But it’s not.

Deliverance is coming.

That’s what you have to tell yourself in the middle of a setback, hurt, disappointment, or
unpleasant circumstance. Confess that, this is not the end. This will not permanently scar,
impact, hinder, or keep a hold on me. It’s just a passing phase. I’ll get through it victoriously.
Of course the enemy will tell you that things will never get better, only worse.

But just like that metro train didn’t stay stuck forever, neither will you. No matter how long you’
ve been in this condition, you’re coming out of it. Think about the man at the pool of Bethesda
in John 5:1-18. He had been that way for 38 years before receiving his deliverance from Jesus!

So then, the amount of time that has passed is irrelevant. Don’t focus on that. Instead, trust
that God is doing a new thing in your life right now. Those yokes of bondage, shackles of
despair, and chains of struggle are being broken.

To reinforce the word of the Lord to you today, I’m stirring Isaiah 10:27 KJV into your cup of
inspiration, which says, “And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken
away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed
because of the anointing.”

When you drink down the contents of your cup, by faith, receive your deliverance and freedom
through the power and anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Release doubt and take on an attitude of faith. God wants you to get un-stuck in your mentality
first and then in your reality.

No matter what has happened and is happening today, know that change is on its way to your
house.

Believe it by faith.

Now let’s pray.

Life can leave us parched, but Jesus can quench
our thirst.

Your Daily Cup of Inspiration is a blog designed
