It was laundry day: lots of washing, drying, folding, putting away clothes. You know… the basic
routine. For a moment, I decided to head downstairs to get something to drink.

When I came back up, our oldest son Kedar was in the hallway with his little brother, Kaleb,
rolling around Matchbox cars, which he absolutely loves to do. In fact, he’s so fascinated with
vehicles, that he is a huge Nascar fan. Remarkably, Kedar can name nearly any racer in the
sport and identify them by their numbers.

He’s teaching me a few.

So far, I know Danica Patrick is #10. Kasey Kahne is #5. And Jimmie Johnson is #48.
After that, it starts to get a little bit hazy, but I’m working on it.

Well, anyway, when he saw me reemerge, holding my cup, he sprang to his feet. I didn’t know
why at first until I saw him dash into my bedroom, move the laundry basket out of the way and
clear a path for me to walk. Wasn’t that
sweet?

“Awww, well, thank you,” I said with a smile, appreciating his caring gesture. “That was really
thoughtful buddy.”

He grinned, said, “You’re welcome,” and returned to rolling his mini vehicles around.

As I sat sipping from my favorite mug, I thought about how nice it is to see our eldest boy
developing gentleman-like qualities and displaying kindness. That’s a good sign that he’s on
the right path. Generally, it’s just nice when
anyone goes out of their way to show a warm
gesture. Don’t you agree? I tend to really appreciate those things, perhaps, even more than
the average person.

Kedar’s simple act shows how a small kindness can go a long way toward letting someone
know you care. It makes me think about all the ways God consistently goes above and beyond
to demonstrate His love, care and compassion for us.  It’s hard not to be grateful for how
generous and mindful He is of our needs. Psalm 8:4 ESV asks, “What is man that you are
mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?”

What is it about me and you that has God so smitten, that He would want to bless us; clothe
us; feed us; comfort us in our affliction; brighten our darkest day; and ultimately, sacrifice His
only son?

We will never comprehend it, but we can rest in knowing that the Lord, the Savior of the world,
is wild about us and loves us with an unfailing, unconditional, and unwavering love.

It doesn’t matter how
others feel about you, perceive you, or think of you. The Lord thinks
you’re pretty awesome! Today’s cup of inspiration is His way of reminding you, just in case you
forgot.

To drive this truth home even further, I’m stirring a portion of a prayer found in Ephesians 3:19
NIV into your cup of inspiration, which says, that you may “know this love that surpasses
knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”

When you drink down the contents of your cup today, may you feel His warm embrace and
sense how near and dear you are to God’s heart. He loves you so much that He will move
heaven and earth to bless you, favor you, and clear a path for you to walk into the fullness of
your purpose.

You, my friend, are truly loved with an everlasting love and don’t you ever forget it.

Now, let’s pray together.
