Daily, I wake up very early in the morning. It helps me get a jumpstart on my day.

Well, today, I needed to be up and at ‘em even earlier than my usual time. So, last evening, I
decided I was going to arise a whole three hours ahead of the typical schedule.

I was determined to do it, since this was the only way I could accomplish some must-do tasks.
Even though yesterday was a holiday and I stayed up beyond my bedtime, I convinced myself
that, before the sun peeked from behind the clouds Friday, I would already be moving about.
When the hour quickly came to roll out of bed, sleep began whispering sweet nothings in my
ear.

“You don’t have to wake up yet. Just take a few more minutes,” it told me.

Those few more minutes turned into an hour before I sleepily slipped from beneath the sheet,
sighed heavily, and started my day.

All that planning and preparing I did to hit the floor running this morning, didn’t quite work out.
Thankfully, I still managed to get quite a bit done with the couple hours I did manage to add
onto my day by waking up earlier.

How many times do we say we’re going to do something, or think we’re really ready to take
action, only to find ourselves hemming and hawing, procrastinating, and shirking
responsibilities when the time comes to get to work?

It’s human nature to talk a good game and then renege when it’s crunch time.

That’s why God, in His infinite wisdom, is not moved by our begging, pleading, and praying for
certain things. He knows that, oftentimes, what we say we want or are ready for, and what we
actually positioned to take on, are worlds apart.

So He waits until all things are properly aligned in our lives to fully embrace, accept, and deal
with all we are petitioning Him to do. He loves us too much to rush us into something, or impose
a set of circumstances upon us that exceed our capacity.

In light of this truth, if there is something you are believing God for and don’t have it yet, don’t
get frustrated. Don’t be upset that He hasn’t granted that request. It’s not that He won’t do it.
He will, but not a moment before you’re truly prepared to manage that blessing.

My friend, with blessings come responsibilities. Even a good thing, out of season, can turn out
very badly.

So don’t hurry God. Wait on Him and rely on His sovereignty.

He’ll do everything at the appointed time, but not a moment sooner.

If you are in a season of waiting and feel vexed over the process, I’m stirring Habakkuk 2:3
NASB into your cup of inspiration. It says, “For still the vision awaits its appointed time; it
hastens to the end—it will not lie. If it seems slow, wait for it; it will surely come; it will not delay.”

When you drink down the contents of your cup, you will be encouraged to know that the best is
yet to come in your life. All God has promised you, He will perform it. Even the things you’ve
lost, that God yet desires for you to have, will be restored. But you must know that He already
has a set time in mind and it’s far more perfect than anything you could ever imagine.

Won’t you trust Him?

Let’s pray.
