Transformed By The Power Of His Word
Have you ever wanted to run from something God was calling you to do, rather than dealing
with the discomfort of it in order to possess what He was trying to give you?

I can relate.

That's why it is critical to rely on what God says in His word about you and not what your
feelings say.

For me, meditating on what the scriptures tell me has been vital to my obedience, especially
because, if you ask me, my personality, naturally, does not fit my calling, spiritually.

Unlike some wonderfully ambitious, ready-to-take-over-the-world personalities I have come
across in my day, for most of my life, I was just the opposite.

I simply wanted to shrink. I didn’t want to be out there with eyes on me.

Not only did I feel unworthy at one point, but I also struggled with fear. I had terrible anxiety
about getting in front of crowds. I would shake and carry on. I didn’t want to be around people.
I felt more at ease and at peace in a safe corner, all alone.

I didn’t want to be bothered, not because I didn’t love others, but because I didn’t like attention,
interaction or too much commotion. It rattled me.

And you know what? That’s why I was loving primarily being a ghostwriter for a while.

I thought it was a novel idea and the ideal profession for my personality type. Shy and
reserved meant cowering and melting into my surroundings, at least in my mind.

Ha!

God did not co-sign that.

I was fascinated with ghostwriting, though, because I could pen a book on someone else’s
behalf and still be invisible.

They could put their name on the cover, without giving me any attribution—just ample
payment—and be on their way.

What a perfect setup, I thought.

They would receive a quality product to share and help people, while I, Sister Hobbs, could
keep my anonymity and make a decent a living.

Cool.

Perfect.

Loved it.

We even had an air-tight confidentiality clause written into my agreements that said I could
never tell anyone I was the originator of the material. I would go to the grave with that secret.

That was fine with me.

I was a behind-the-scenes Kingdom-builder and a very content one at that—glory, hallelujah,
thank You Jesus. The end.

Um, why does God specialize in stirring nests?

Although I still do some ghostwriting and anonymous work, trust me when I tell you, God has
done a 180-degree shift in my life and I am no longer the same.

For a while there, while 100% of my efforts were in the background, I thought the Lord and I
had a good thing going.

But noooo...

The sovereign Lord of the universe, who knows all things, scattered my plans like a strong
wind gust blowing paper through the air.

Ever try to chase down a pile of papers freely flying above your head? If you have, you already
know: unless that forceful wind stops, there is no hope of gathering those weightless sheets.

Just say goodbye.

I surely had to say goodbye to my preferences.

He had to let me know my plans and His purpose are two different things.

He had not purposed me to hide, blend, remain anonymous and go along to get along. There
was more He wanted me to do.

The power of the word the of the Lord in my life overcame my trepidations.  That place in me
that was once filled with faithlessness and fear, is now, by the grace of God, filled with faith and
fearlessness.

God wants to give you that testimony.

I know it's a process. Trust me, I do. Before you get to the place of acceptance of the Lord’s
will for you, you may feel overwhelmed, stressed out and scared. Sometimes, you might even
be shaking in your boots over pretty much every opportunity, platform, outlet and open door.

If you walk through the doorway the Lord has carved, not knowing what is on the other side,
that alone could be enough to petrify and paralyze you, if you let it.

Uncertainty incites fear in our hearts like no other thing we have ever known.

But the closer you draw to the Lord and the more you let Him work on you, you will feel His Holy
Boldness come upon you.

One day, you will look back and notice that scared-of-everything-person that once sought to
stifle the mature individual God designed you to be, is dead and gone. You will say with
assurance, "I am no longer afraid."

I'm telling you from experience.

Now, that doesn’t mean you will always be comfortable.

No way!

There are assignments, situations and circumstances that will always challenge your faith and
push you well beyond anything you once thought possible.

But God will continue to strengthen you on this journey, just as He has strengthed me.

Don’t be afraid. And if you do feel fear, ignore it. Push past it and tap into faith. Keep going
when the enemy tells you, you cannot.

Yes you can.

I am a witness that God won’t let you stumble and fall if you put your faith and trust in Him.

To remind you that He is a God that secures your every step, I am stirring the testimony of
David found in Psalm 18:36 NASB into your cup of inspiration, which says, “You enlarge my
steps under me, and my feet have not slipped.”

As you drink down the contents of your cup of inspiration, you will be comforted by knowing,
though God is allowing you to be stretched, pushed and challenged, He won’t let you slip and
fall.

His word is a lamp to your feet and a light to your path, according Psalm 119:105.

As long as You acknowledge Him in all things, walk upright and keep Him first, everything—that
includes you—will be just fine.

Go with God. Walk in His strength.

Be transformed by the power of His word.

Go ahead. Get out there. Be and do all God has equipped you to.

It’s time.

Now let’s pray.

our thirst.
