In China, where 13.8 more Christians were persecuted in 2012, compared with 2011, according to a ChinaAid
report, God is still opening doors for the gospel to reach the area.

Four-time Grammy Award-winning singer, Yolanda Adams, was privileged to share the love of Christ through
song in the communist nation, while being honored as a Musical Ambassador with the Grammy’s. She was
among 9 award winners who performed during the "Grammy All-stars" concert held in Chengdu, Sichuan
Province, June 8, 2013.

“[My] trip was wonderful, it was awesome, it was eye-opening, and it was adventurous,” she said of the
experience while discussing it with her co-hosts of
The Yolanda Adams Morning Show.

“Being the first gospel artist to actually sing on a stage and proclaim the name of Jesus in China is amazing,”
said Adams, who has plans to go back in the future.

There were at least 132 reported incidents of persecution affecting 4,919 Christians, 442 of which were clergy,
China Aid estimates. The government run-ons led to detention of at least 1,441 Christians, the sentencing of 9,
and various forms of abuse, including beatings, of 37 Christians.

“The interesting thing is we talk so much about evangelizing the world,” Adams continued. “God gives you
opportunities to do that, and when He gives you opportunities to step into those places, there is an amazing
calm and peace that comes over you when He gives you that.”

Despite stories of abuse, persecution and turmoil, the radio personality and entrepreneur said, “I wasn’t
worried. I wasn’t afraid. I felt like I was at home.”
