Heroic Antoinette Tuff Explains Compassion For Gunman: ‘I
Knew That Pain’ [VIDEO]
On August 20, 2013, Antoinette Tuff went from being an anonymous Atlanta elementary school bookkeeper, to
being a globally praised hero.

Now the author of
Prepared for a Purpose: The Inspiring True Story of How One Woman Saved an Atlanta
School Under Siege,
opens up, once again, about that fateful day and why she felt compassion for mentally ill
gunman Michael Brandon Hill.

“At first, I’m thinking it’s a joke. But then he says to me, ‘This is not a joke,’ [and] that ‘we’re all gonna die
today,’” Tuff told CBN in a sit-down interview.

Staring down the barrel of an AK-47 rifle, though she felt afraid, the staunch Christian and prayer warrior
sought God for direction on the spot.

Not only did she receive guidance, but her heart was also move with compassion toward 20-year-old Hill.
“I knew that pain. I had just had that pain several months [ago] myself when my husband of 33 years, a man
that I had been with since I was 13 years old had now told me he was having an affair. We were no longer
gonna be together,” Tuff said.

“So I knew that pain. I knew exactly what he felt when someone else came into my life and destroyed my family,
so I knew how to have compassion and love for him, ‘cause God sent people to have it for me.”
