Tamela Mann’s first Grammy Award win in Los Angeles Sunday at the 59th annual ceremony
brought her to tears as she thought of the one person she wished could be there to see it: her

“This is amazing. My mom would be so happy right now,” said the emotional TillyMann recording
artist who took home the trophy for Best Gospel Performance/Song for “God Provides,” written by
Kirk Franklin.

The 50-year-old has previously spoken of her nurturing and loving mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s,

But there weren’t only sad tears. The “Mann & Wife” actress let out plenty of joyful shouts of praise
over the triumphant milestone, too.

Before concluding her speech, Mann thanked her husband, children, and of course her “little

chart-topping album,
Losing My Religion.

“Y’all take our picture,” she said, summoning her longtime musical collaborator on stage.

As the two who have been singing together since their Kirk Franklin & The Family days back in the
90's stood side-by-side, it was a full circle moment indeed.
