We all feel there are some things in our lives to complain about. After all, no one has a 100 percent
perfect, care-free existence, right?

But if you feel like complaining more than being grateful, Bible teacher Priscilla Shirer has the
perfect solution for you: write a gratitude list!

“You can start the day by literally writing down all the ways that you are so grateful for the week
that’s gone before. The Monday through Thursday, all of the mundane, all of the stuff that
frustrated you and irritated you, most of the time, we only concentrate on those things.” explained
the Going Beyond Ministries Founder in a digital video exclusive for the eight-time Emmy® award-
The Dr. Oz Show.

Instead of focusing on the negative, Shirer asked, “But what if you literally thought back and
paused for just a moment, so that you can write down all the things that went well, all of the things
that blessed you, all of the things you’re grateful for?”

Well, the daughter of
Dr. Tony Evans Founder of The Urban Alternative, answered her own
question, saying, “It’ll change your perspective and it’ll change your Friday.”

Is she correct about that? Absolutely!

The 42-year-old
War Room actress knows that life can feel crummy sometimes. Things don’t go
right. We struggle through the ups and downs.

But who said we can't celebrate the golden moments or find the silver lining in the storm clouds,
despite all the imperfections?

    Here are 5 benefits of a gratitude list:

    1. It helps you count your blessings.

    2. It shows you that God is still working in the middle of trials and crises.

    3. It puts a smile on your face and boosts your mood because you're focused on awesome,
    happy and upbeat things.

    4. It teaches you to have a more positive outlook by making you more conscious of the good.

    5. It retrains you to seek the best even in the worst situations.

As you see, there are great benefits to Shirer's life-improving gratitude list which she shared as part
of Dr. Oz’s special February segment called
Faithful Fridays.

Her tip falls right in line with Philippians 4:8 NIV, which says, "Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever
is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is
admirable--if anything is excellent or praiseworthy--think about such things."
