Pastor Paula White: ‘I Know How to get Crowds... You can
Buy Crowds’
Article By A.L. Harris:: EEW Magazine News

At the height of her ministry, Pastor Paula White, 47, along with her ex-husband Randy White, pastored one of
the largest churches in the nation, Without Walls International Church in Tampa, founded in 1991.

On Sunday, Feb. 23, the Senior Pastor of New Destiny Christian Center in Apopka, Florida—founded by the
late Zachery Tims and his ex-wife Riva Tims—reflected on her past ministry successes and told her
congregation, her purpose is greater than  building a large church.

“I built the second largest church in the nation with 28,000 members and if I thought my purpose was just to
build a big church, I’d be like [forget it],” she said.

Dressed in a t-shirt, jeans and knee-high leather boots, the charismatic speaker told congregants, “I know how
to get crowds. You can buy crowds.”

She then added, “This is too honest for people.”

In November 2007, her and her ex-husband's honesty and integrity was called into question when United States
Senator Chuck Grassley of Iowa announced an investigation of the then couple's ministry by the United States
Senate Committee on Finance.

Though the Whites denied any wrongdoing, their marriage and ministry began to unravel under the scrutiny.
"That kind of pressure wears you out," she said while ministering during Bishop T.D. Jakes' 2011 Pastors and
Leadership Conference, openly addressing all the scandals that had wounded her reputation over the past
several years.

In a piece titled “
Of Faith, Fame & Fortune,” published by The Tampa Tribune, Michelle Bearden and Baird
Helgeson wrote of the Whites' formerly opulent lifestyle, “They travel in a $1.9 million business jet. They own a
home they purchased for $2.1 million on Bayshore Boulevard and a $3.5 million Trump Tower condo in New
York. Randy rents a waterfront villa in Malibu, Calif.”

White doesn't deny knowing how to fill her coffers. “I can market and get people in, and get them out. I’m a
pretty bad business woman, which means, I can do business good," she said Sunday.

But these days, according to the twice divorced pastor and Bible teacher, it’s not all about raking in massive
income produced by huge crowds’ tithes, offerings and product patronage.

“If that’s what I’m doing, I don’t want to do it. That’s not my purpose,” she stressed.
