Epic Battle Over Extra-Biblical Themes In ‘Noah’ Film Rocks The
Boat
There is an epic battle washing ashore over Darren Aronofsky's $125-million depiction of Noah and the great
flood, which stars Russell Crowe.

When a
Faith Driven Consumers survey was released concluding that 98 percent of religious moviegoers are
displeased with faith-based films, including Noah, Paramount Pictures hit back.

Using Nielsen and Barna research indicating a high favorability toward the upcoming biblical epic, the movie
house is doing its level best to drown out negative voices that could cut into its potential profits.

"On our survey conducted over February 13th through February 15th, we found the majority of Pastors would
recommend that people see the film 'Noah,'" Barna Group president David Kinnaman said--a quote Paramount
uses in its press release rebuttal.

According to
Huffington Post, this conflict has arisen four months after “test screenings with three
demographics -- members of the Jewish faith in New York, Christians in Arizona and the general public in
California -- all produced ‘worrisome' reactions.’

The movie's third act was said to deviate from the biblical parable, which led Paramount to cut several of its own
versions of the movie.”

Faith Driven Consumers reports, “The movie’s director appears to have replaced the Bible’s central point of
God’s judgment on man’s inherent sin with a story focused on a contemporary environmental theme.”

LA Times calls the whole debate an "unnecessary" and "unholy mess."

"Noah" opens in wide release on March 28.
