In the mainstream entertainment industry, she is the most ridiculed member of the award-winning group
Destiny’s Child. In the gospel arena, she has fought hard to be embraced after being branded a “secular”
singer.
But Michelle Williams, 33, feels that after 15 long years in the business, finally, she is finding her lane,
experiencing success, and discovering wholeness.
In a recent interview with BET’s 106 & Park host Keshia Chanté, the “Say Yes!” singer said, “Journey to
Freedom has been a journey to get to a healthy place mentally, spiritually and emotionally.”
The singer, who has admittedly struggled with depression in the past, as well as feelings of guilt and shame,
told the audience, “I just want to encourage people that whatever’s keeping you from being your best, let it go.”
Lately, Williams has been particularly vocal about letting go of things and not taking herself so seriously.
As the official spokesperson for Playtex® Play On® Playbook Campaign to promote its feminine care products
and empower women to handle life’s curveballs, she has been telling others, “keep your head up, shrug it off
and move on.”
Before premiering her video on the urban show, Williams pointed out how happy she is that things seem to be
taking shape in her career.
“Today I’m really feeling like, okay, hard work is paying off. So if you just be patient [it will work out],” she said.
