EEW MAGAZINE NEWS:: REALITY BUZZ
She stripped off the makeup, glamorous attire and went undercover to
do a good deed. On a recent episode of BET’s “The Sheard’s,” First
Lady, Karen Clark Sheard showed off what it really means to do the
work of the Lord.
Posing as someone working on a “documentary on hard-working
mothers, just seeing what it feels like,” the award-winning singer and
member of the Legendary Clark Sisters, concealed her plan to be a
blessing to a community volunteer worker, Erica, who was going
through her own fair share of personal struggles.
During the interview portion of the mock interview, an incognito Sheard
listened to the young lady as she described her duties and roles as a
ministry volunteer.

“I help people in our community [get] employment, education, affordable housing, mental health services and
transportation,” she explained. Remarkably, all this volunteer work was done, while she, herself, was struggling
to get her life together.
The mother of two daughters, who began crying while revealing her deep desire to plant seeds in others and
be of help to them, also revealed that, her oldest, had been exposed to a great deal of hardship. “My oldest
daughter has seen so much: shelters, sleeping in my car, [me] being pregnant and homeless with my second
daughter, I mean, I want her to see that I don’t give up.”
After hearing her story, Sheard told the emotional do-gooder, “I admire you for your strong faith, inspiration,
determination, and let me tell you a little bit about who I am,” finally revealing her true identity.

“I am Karen Clark Sheard and God has opened up a way for me to bless you,” she said, as Erica covered her
mouth, muffling shocked screams.
She gave Erica a check to cover 3 months-worth of payments for her rent and car, and also blessed the single
mom's daughters, Imani and Alise, with new clothes.
“Amongst all of the things that I have done in my life, this has been one of the ones that really have really made
me go to that next phase in ministry, and inspired me,” said a beaming Sheard.
This is the kind of ministry work that pleases God. As Jesus said in Matthew 25:40, “Whatever you did for one
of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.”
