TD Jakes Rockets Back To No. 1 On New York Times Best Seller List

That’s the number of weeks Bishop TD Jakes’ new book Instinct: The Power to Unleash your Inborn Drive has
been on the New York Times Best Seller list.

After slipping into the No. 2 spot, it is back to reigning supreme at No. 1.

Instinct is the 56-year-old Dallas mega pastor’s 33rd published title, but his first release to ever top the
prestigious NY Times list.

The milestone was celebrated in May during Sunday morning worship at his headquarters location, The Potter’s
House.

“A lot of people may not know the significance of being on the New York Times Bestseller’s list, that it puts you
in the front window of stores all across America,” said Jakes during a celebratory presentation led by his wife,
First Lady Serita Jakes and his Executive Vice President of Business Operations, Zunoraine Holmes.

Continued Jakes, "It also exposes you to an audience of people who would normally not pay you any attention.
That gives you credibility to enter into the marketplace and share this message of faith and empowerment in a
platform that wouldn’t normally even consider faith.”

Currently the preacher and movie producer is gearing up for his annual “Woman Thou Art Loosed” conference
scheduled to take place October 2-4 in Atlanta.

Jakes will also be speaking at this year’s “Empowerment Experience” at the ESSENCE Music Festival in New
Orleans Friday, July 4.

“I’ve had several books over my literary career to hit the Times list—maybe about 10 or so have been on The
Times list—but I’ve never had one to come out number one,” Jakes said.

According to him, Instinct was inspired by his trip to an African Safari, where he noticed the behaviors of
animals in their natural environment. Consequently, Jakes felt impressed to teach others that humans, like
animals have instincts, not merely to survive, but thrive and succeed.

Speaking of success, the leader has forged a lucrative path to the top through years of building his
multifaceted ministry and business.

As CEO and founder of TDJ Enterprises, his films have generated in excess of $100 million.
