We Love It: Cheryl Fortune takes domestic abuse head-
on in powerful new ‘Fighters’ video

If you thought Cheryl Fortune, the estranged wife of gospel singer James Fortune, would avoid the
topic of abuse as she advances in music ministry, you were wrong.

We absolutely love the courage of this Christian domestic violence survivor, who has lived through
the ugly ordeal of being physically harmed by a spouse. Now she is using her musical platform to
help others who may still be going through it.

In Cheryl’s new video for her lead single “Fighters,” not only is the LuDawn Music/Tyscot artist
broaching the topic of domestic violence, but also, human trafficking.

The message shared in the video of the GRAMMY® Award nominated singer-songwriter is both
potent and timely.

According to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, human trafficking is a $32 billion-a-year
industry. Many young women worldwide are caught up in this dangerous web of deceit, violence
and exploitation.

By awakening fans and followers of her music to the devastating realities of domestic abuse, human
trafficking, suicide and addiction, Cheryl leaves a trail of discussion-point-crumbs.

Now, in turn, it is our job to spread even more awareness and most importantly, do something to
help.

With the release of new music, Cheryl, the Billboard No. 1 songwriter who previously built the
successful FiyaWorld Music Group label, is personally rebounding after escaping a 10-year
abusive marriage.

“The last two years have been extremely difficult for me and my family but we’re fighting our way
through it,” says the singer as she readies the release of her debut solo album in June.

Watch the video below and if you or someone you know is being abused or held against your will by
a trafficker, there is help for you.
