Chaka Khan, longtime friend of the late Whitney Houston, is praying for Bobbi Kristina’s family as the 22-year-
old remains on life support.
“We just have to wait for what happens next. All I want to do is be there for them. I just need to pray,” said the 62-
year-old in an interview with Mirror UK.
“I can’t say I was shocked,” she said of the revelation that Bobbi Kristina was found lying face-down and
unconscious in a bathtub at home on January 31. “But I was definitely hurt, disappointed.”
Chaka, who has personally struggled with drug and alcohol addiction for years, has known Bobbi Kristina since
birth. The sensitive artist has seen firsthand how substance abuse can rip families apart and send friends to an
early grave.
The 10-time GRAMMY® Award winner, who allowed Whitney to cover her smash hit “I’m Every Woman,”
attended the drug-addicted vocal icon’s funeral in 2012, when she died at the young age of 48.
“I’ve been in conversation with the family,” Chaka said. “Everyone’s devastated, everyone. I love Bobbi Kristina,
I love Whitney, I love Bobby Brown. I love Cissy – I love them all.”
She continued, “Whitney would be devastated. I wish she was here. You really don’t know what this is like for a
mother until it happens to you.”
Right now, things look grim for Bobbi Kristina.
"There's still not a great deal of hope," said her 81-year-old grandmother in an interview with WBLS radio in New
York City. "I am asking everybody to pray to the Lord, who we know can do something about it. If he works a
miracle, thank God. If it happens the other way, I'm alright."
Chaka, who expressed deep grief over the condition of Whitney’s baby girl said, “I think I’m pretty close to
feeling what she would have felt and what she’s feeling right now, wherever she is.”
