Christianity Under Attack, Again: Atheist Group Sues to have
Christian Cross Removed
Article By Josh Hamilton:: EEW News Reporter
Psalm 14:1 says, “The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God.” It is not surprising, then, that organized
Atheist groups come up with some of the most foolish ways to spite Christians.
The latest dumb idea? They are suing to have a giant cross removed from a Maryland government property.
Never mind the fact that it was built in honor of 49 men who died in World War I.
Geniuses.
According to a Christian Post report, The American Humanist Association filed suit Tuesday in the United States
District Court for the District of Maryland against the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission,
which maintains the property in Bladensburg, the location of the 40-foot cross.
The case, being handled by Appignani Humanist Legal Center—the legal wing of the Atheist organization—
seems, to many, to be nothing more than mean-spirited and pointless.
But David Niose, Appignani's Legal Director, sees things a wholly different context.
"To any passerby, a huge cross such as this can only be understood as endorsing Christianity," said Niose.
"We can all support memorials to those who have fought for our country, but they cannot take the form of a
massive religious symbol on government property."
Tell that to the families of the men from Prince George’s County who gave their lives for this country in World
War I.
Explain this to the volunteers who helped build what is known as the “peace cross” that was dedicated in 1925
by the American Legion.
But then again, maybe trying to explain such rational ideas to members of the Humanist Legal Center would be
a waste.
After all, Proverbs 23:9 says, “Don’t waste your breath on fools, for they will despise the wisest advice.”
