Women who love God are everywhere—even reality TV shows others might view as inappropriate for a
woman of God. Will Smith’s ex-wife, Sheree Fletcher, who is a Christian and current preacher’s wife, is also
co-star of VH1’s “Hollywood Exes”—something she has received criticism for doing.
In a recent interview with Juicy Online Magazine, the star, who is married to Pastor Terrell Fletcher and is
First Lady of City of Hope International and the Director of WOW! Women on the Wall Ministries, said,
“There are some saved folk that don’t think church and show business go together in any way shape or
form.”
For them, Lady Sheree shouldn’t be cashing reality TV checks and being a part of a secular entertainment
culture. Yet, she is undeterred by detractors.
“You have to respect people’s opinions but I refuse to live my life letting other people put me in their box.
This is something that I feel that I am supposed to be doing.”
The mom of Jada Pinkett-Smith’s “bonus son” Trey, continued, “For whatever reason the whole picture is
not clear to me yet but, for whatever reasons, this is the necessary step in my process in my journey.”
That journey, which has led her to a firm commitment to Christ permeates her decision making, apparently,
even wardrobe choices. This became evident from Fletcher’s commentary about Christian Hollywood
actress and minister’s wife Meagan Good’s distastefully low cut BET Awards dress.
“I think she looks beautiful. I think she’s an absolute gorgeous woman. To each is own,” the CEO of “Whoop
Ash” said, adding, “I think the dress was a little low and that wouldn’t be a choice that I would make for me at
this stage of the game in my journey, but you live and you learn. It was ironic that the award she was
presenting was a gospel category.”
What are your thoughts? Should Christian women stay away from show business or is it a tool of
Evangelism to reach the lost?
