First Lady Michelle Obama introduced Robin Roberts, the 52-year-old former ESPN anchor--a fitting tribute to a
woman who has shared her harrowing battle against breast cancer and myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) with
America. Her fight and victory against the deadly disease has inspired millions.
As Roberts accepted her award, she noted that, "I didn't find that strength on my own," but rather, from
everyone who called, prayed, tweeted, and showed their support.
Watch the beloved media personality accept the The Arthur Ashe Courage Award, which is given to those who
"reflect the spirit of Arthur Ashe, possessing strength in the face of adversity, courage in the face of peril and
the willingness to stand up for their beliefs no matter what the cost."
