Acting Godly: Meagan Good Talks Refusal To Do Nude Scenes
By Teri Johnson: EEW Magazine News

1 Corinthians 6:20 says, “For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit,
which are God’s.” For Christian actress and preacher’s wife Meagan Good, obeying that scripture extends to
her movie roles.

Most recently, Good was captured portraying a sexually aggressive, cussing, no-nonsense, big-haired, 80s
news producer named Linda Jackson, alongside funnyman Will Ferrell in the comedy
Anchorman 2: The
Legend Continues
. In the film, her hyper sexualized character seduces the married anchor with animalistic
fervor. But there are some boundaries, Good maintains, she won’t cross.

"I have my parameters of what I feel in my spirit is appropriate," she said in an interview with
LA Times about the
over-the-top comedy that hit No. 2 at the box office.

Characters required to use some profanity and engage in hot love scenes are common for Good to take on, so
then, what
would be in violation of her code of ethics?

"There have been times where it's been tough because it's something I really wanted, but the nudity would be
exploitative and I'd lose the opportunity,” she explained. “But what I've found is that the more I stick to my
convictions, the more God sticks to his promises.”

Good has landed decent roles in films like 2011's faith-based romantic comedy, Jumping The Broom where she
played Blythe, best friend of the bride-to-be, who was very focused on a man taking care of her.

"There aren't many attributes between her and I," Good said of Blythe in an interview with
Complex. "But that's
why I liked playing her. The role teaches the audience not to judge people; teaches you to find the beauty
within."

Teaching audiences and steering them in a direction that will be helpful, at least for entertainers of faith, is the
goal.

Good ascribes to the belief that obedience to God and adherence to principles produces blessings and open
doors. Even when certain ones close, like her short-lived ABC drama,
Deception, that lasted a single season
before being axed.

During a recent appearance on talk host Wendy Williams’ show, she said of the now canceled show, “Thank
You Lord for it, because it did create this opportunity [with Anchorman],” adding, “He always knows what He’s
doing.”

Though Good avoids explicit sexuality, other Christian actors like Oscar winner Denzel Washington, 58, who is
very open about his faith, dives into gritty roles with abandon.

Last year, Washington played a cocaine-snorting, womanizing, alcoholic pilot named Whip Whitaker in the
movie,
Flight.  The gratuitous nudity, profanity and depravity in the opening scene turned some of his more
conservative viewers off.

Depending on the actor, however, raunchy characters and scenes, even for Christians, give an opportunity to
demonstrate real-life scenarios, show how people change, or teach a powerful lesson through painting an ugly
picture.

Though Good may be a bit more discriminating in her choices of acting jobs, she said exceptional replacements
for any forfeited roles have always popped up.

“When I would lose something, something better would come up than what I turned down. And I've been able to
pay my bills doing nothing else since I was 13."
