Marvin Sapp: “I Want Music To Be Fun Again. It’s work.' [VIDEO]
Article By Angela Soffin:: EEW Magazine Entertainment News

Award-winning Michigan-based gospel singer and pastor, Marvin Sapp, 46, is one of the most recognized,
loved and successful recording artists in the music industry.

Just because audiences love hearing him, however, doesn’t mean he loves singing to them. In a recent
interview with The KD Bowe Show, the “Never Would Have Made It” singer suggested his passion has waned.

“I want music to be fun again,” Sapp said. “It’s work.”

Since launching out into music in 1996, he has recorded seven albums, garnered Stellar and Dove Award wins,
topped Billboard charts, and gained widespread acclaim.

Still, in the midst of all that, somewhere along the way, the excitement and joy of it has been lost.

“It’s like, you gotta get up, you gotta go sing and you get a check, and that’s cool,” explained the widower, who
lost his wife and manager, MaLinda Sapp to colon cancer in 2010.

He continued, “But when you’re doing it for a living, it’s not the same as when you’re doing it [out of passion]—
even though you’re getting paid for it, it [is better when it] has that level of fun.”

According to Sapp, he has created other streams of income through passion projects that help him cope with
the drudgery of moving forward with his music career.

Despite his personal feelings, thousands of souls are touched by Sapp’s songs, live appearances and
numerous engagements around the nation.
