Happy Anniversary: Kirk & Tammy Franklin Celebrate 18 Years
Of Marriage
By Laiah Anderson: EEW Magazine News

They have been through their ups and downs, but one of gospel’s most recognizable royal couples, Kirk and
Tammy Franklin, have withstood the test of time. The loving pair officially marked 18 years of marriage on
Monday, Jan. 20.

In honor of their longevity, the "Fo Yo Soul Recordings" CEO, who will celebrate his 44th birthday on Jan. 26,
posted a throwback photo of the lovebirds.

The image, which features a smiling Mrs. Franklin perched in the lap of her spouse, shows both of them
wearing wingtip collars—a now outdated trend.

“Back in the day. Ooh Kill em with those collars! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY BABY!” tweeted Franklin, poking fun at
their fashions while attaching the old school snap.

JANUARY 21, 2014
The well-liked, very open and transparent pair, have been honest about the difficulties in their relationship.

In 2005, the Franklins went public in the infamous interview with Oprah Winfrey about the iconic gospel
songwriter and producer's previous battle with pornography addiction, which sent shock waves throughout the
faith community.

The Grammy winner has since moved past the stronghold and his wife has been more than willing to share
what it really took for the two  to resolve their issues and get back to being strong again.

In a 2009 interview with Pat Smith of "Good Morning Texas," the supportive Mrs. Franklin said, “With any
obstacle in my life, it may sound old-fashioned these days, but my faith is first and foremost.”

In addition to relying on God, she admitted that she also had to lean on the strength of loved ones. “I have a
very strong family, support system, girlfriends that you can call and are gonna encourage you, and uplift you.”

She also revealed how they each worked hard not to allow the breach of trust to drive a wedge between them.
“My husband and I really cleave to each other and I think, unfortunately, during obstacles, sometimes you back
away from each other, but we cleave to one another.”
