God Girls: Jamie Grace Launches Nationwide Club For
Christian Girls
By Tracy Thomas:: EEW Magazine News Reporter

There are a lot of challenges facing young girls: low self-esteem, eating disorders, depression, peer pressure
and more. Having a support group among peers who love God and each other is always helpful—something
Grammy Award-nominated Christian artist Jamie Grace is facilitating.

On Sunday, August 11, the “Hold Me” singer announced the re-launch of the
GodGirlsClub.com website,
designed to make it easy for girls of all ages to “discover who they are in Christ, to grow in Christ, to learn
about God’s promises for her dreams, her future, and to do this with other girls.”

According to the website, participants in their local
God Girl's Club (GCC) are “divided into different age groups
and meet either monthly, bi-monthly or even weekly.”

A local club leader hosts meetings in a place of their choosing to discuss topics like “purity, modesty, missions,
relationships,” and more, as they, together, dig into the recommended book of the month.

The current reading choice is
Perfectly Unique: Praising God from Head to Foot by Annie F. Downs.

With membership beginning at age 12, it is the perfect time to combat negative influences before the girls enter
into their teen years. According to
Guttmacher Institute, which focuses on reproductive health, "Adolescence is
a time of rapid change," particularly with all the pressure coming from every angle to do things like drink, take
drugs, and have sex.

While fewer than 2% of adolescents have had sex by the time they reach their 12th birthday, and only 6% of
teens have had sex by age 15, research shows that by age 16, that percentage jumps to one third. By 17,
nearly half have been sexually active.

Clearly, getting to them while they are young can head off trouble before it starts. Grace is hoping to touch a
nerve with this generation's youth, which is something she should be able to do with the popularity of her music
and frequent travels to ministries and venues across the US.

Participation in GCC requires a $50 registration fee which covers the cost of the leadership packet, t-shirt,
membership cards, and other accessories for the group.
