Fantasia Advises Against Adultery, Denies Suicide Rumors: ‘I’m
Not Depressed. I’m Blessed’
By Karla Adams: EEW Magazine News
The Bible says “flee fornication” and Fantasia Barrino, 29, prescribes the same reaction to the opportunity to
engage in a relationship with a married man. This, based on personal experience of course.
After the single mother played mistress to her still-married ex, Antwuan Cook, giving birth to his son only to end
up hurt, she is now steering other women away from this sinful and unwise idea.
On Monday, Jan. 20, while co-hosting ABC’s The View-- alongside Whoopi Goldberg, Jenny McArthy, Sherri
Shepherd and Barbara Walters-- the topic of women cheating with married men came up.
In what could have been an awkward moment, the R&B singer currently starring in the Broadway show, “After
Midnight,” chose to weigh in and share her opinion.
“If that is the situation, run, run as fast as you can, [you] can’t catch me, I’m the Ginger Bread man,” she said.
The American Idol alum, who is a church girl at heart, grew up in High Point, NC, ministering gospel songs with
her family.
But as time moved on, she strayed from her roots, leading to a string of bad choices and personal turmoil.
In 2011, after things went awry in her adulterous affair, she reportedly overdosed on Aspirin and another sleep
aid in a failed suicide attempt.
Still being dogged by rumors that she wants to end her life now that her son’s father is back with his wife,
Barrino used her television hosting gig as a vehicle to get the word out that she is a perfect picture of mental
health and stability.
“I’m not depressed. I’m blessed,” she responded when journalist Walters prodded about whether there was any
validity to the negative rumblings.
“And I think that when you carry that, there is people who will try their best to try to nit and pick and try to find
things that used to could break Fantasia, but that Fantasia is gone.”
