Unless you’ve been out of the loop, you’re probably aware of the surprise proposal and wedding that
went viral under the hashtag #foreverduncan.
The story unfolded on social media through a string of videos by Alfred Duncan, who popped the
question to his unsuspecting love Sherrell Duncan and tied the knot in the span of about six hours.
Here are EEW Magazine’s 6 favorite things about the Duncan proposal and wedding:
1.The bride’s reaction. As if the now-newlywed Mrs. Duncan’s initial reaction to discovering Alfred
had a whole wedding laid out for her wasn’t sweet enough, she gave glory to God for their union! “I
thank God for you,” the soon-to-be Mrs. Sherrell Duncan says during the exchange of vows. “I thank
God for letting you choose me! I love you baby.” Her open expression of her faith was as beautiful as
the outpouring of love she had for her fiancé.
2. Alfred Duncan’s attentiveness. Mr. Duncan studied his girlfriend Sherrell through their entire
dating experience, listening carefully to what she liked and what she didn’t, and it paid off in the end!
He gave her a fairytale wedding and had her design the wedding dress of her dreams without realizing
she was doing so! His thoughtfulness and desire to acknowledge her preferences is simply
heartwarming.
3.The presence of family and friends. Alfred proposed in front of their family and friends, so they
could enjoy the moment when Sherrell accepted his proposal with a tear-filled, “Yes.” Alfred also had
a couple of her friends waiting at a hotel to fix her up for the wedding she wasn’t yet aware of,
prompting Sherrell to jump up and down in excitement and surprise.
4. A proposal and a wedding in a day? We love it! The bride-to-be was already reeling from the
unexpected proposal, but the magic didn’t end there. There was no break from the excitement as she
was whisked off to her wedding in a blindfold. She was barely able to stand when she finally saw
everyone waiting for her to become a wife after only six hours of being a fiancé. She later said on
Good Morning America, “I was amazed. I literally was like, there’s nothing but, like, a spirit holding my
legs up.”
5. The emotion was REAL. Sherrell’s passion and gratefulness is palpable. During the proposal she
cried shamelessly, expressing her feelings for all to see. Through the course of the day she cried,
jumped and shouted for joy. Mrs. Duncan’s heartfelt reactions to her special day are so genuine and
unfiltered that you can’t help but smile.
6. It was all recorded. Last but not least, the entire amazing day was captured on video. Mr. and
Mrs. Duncan will never forget the joys of their wedding day, especially since they have a collection of
videos capturing the day from beginning to end to look back on years from now. Not only that, but
their relatives can also relive the precious moments of that day, along with the rest of the world. The
film and their special memories, will last Sherrell and Alfred Duncan a lifetime.
