Waiting on God can be difficult-- especially if the promise He put in your spirit is not fulfilled when you
thought it would be.

However, don't lose faith! Don't despair. Here are 5 Bible stories featuring people who experienced
the same situation to encourage you.

1. The Promised Child. In Genesis 18:1-15, we read the story of how God promised to grant
Abraham and Sarah a child. Sarah couldn't believe it. She was too old, her time had passed and it
was impossible in her mind, of course. But nothing is too hard for God (Matthew 19:26.) In Genesis 21:
1-7, we see that God really did keep His promise to them, and He will keep His promise to you.

2. Daniel's Prayer. In Daniel 9:1-19, we see Daniel pray fervently for the Lord to spare Jerusalem His
wrath. And although he received a response 21 days later, we learn in chapter 10, verses 1-12, that
the Lord had heard his prayer the same day it had been asked. Believe that God has heard your
prayer, and that it has already been answered, even if it has not manifested yet.

3. The Woman with the Issue of Blood. In Mark 5:21-34, we read of the lady with an issue of blood,
who was healed when she touched Jesus' garments. This woman suffered with this issue for twelve
years, unable to be relieved of the problem by doctors. But at the sight of Jesus, she immediately
believed she would be healed, so she pressed her way to reach Him and got her healing! Although
your promise may be a long-time coming, be like the woman with the issue of blood, and know that
with one touch of God's hand, your promise can (and will) come to pass.

4. Lazarus Lives. John 11:1-44 tells the story of how Lazarus died, yet ultimately lived. Lazarus had
been dead for 4 days when Jesus finally arrived to heal him. Jesus told his disciples in verse 4 that
this illness would not lead to death, but be used for the glory of God. How disheartening it was when
Lazarus did die. Yet, Jesus raised him. So what do we learn? Even when it looks grim, we still must
have faith that the Lord will do what He promised. Martha and those around her would not have
obeyed Jesus' command to remove the stone from Lazarus' grave if they had no faith that He could
still do what He said He would do.

5. The Man at the Pool. In John 5:1-15, we read about Jesus and the invalid, who was stuck at the
poolside of Bethesda for 38 years. This man had no hope of getting into the pool to be healed, and
he was greatly discouraged. Jesus, however, cured the man just by telling him to get up and walk.
How inspiring! It doesn't matter how long you've been waiting for your blessing, if you heed the words
of God when you hear Him speak, just as swiftly as the former invalid did, your promise is sure to be
fulfilled.

Waiting is surely tough, but if you can remember that God is faithful, you’ll do much better during your
process.  Be encouraged. Delay is not denial.
