With the busyness of day-to-day life, for some women of faith it seems nearly impossible to squeeze in a good prayer.
We tend to find numerous ways to work prayer into our schedule when everything in life is going in a downward spiral, but what about on the days when nothing seems to be wrong, aside from our lack of communication with God?
Today, meditate on these 6 scriptures to help you enhance your prayer life.
1. Luke 18:1 (KJV)- “And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint.” Pray always, even when it feels as though you’ll never receive an answer. Later, in Luke 18:7, it says, “And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?” God never tires of hearing our prayers, and He will answer them in good time.
2. Mark 11:22-24 (NIV)- ““Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Pray in faith, not in doubt.
3. Matthew 6:10 (ESV)- “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.” Jesus taught His disciples that the Lord’s will should be the basis of all their prayers. Being His present-day disciples, we are also to pray that His will be done, rather than ours.
4. Job 42:10 (NIV)- “After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.” There is power in intercessory prayer! Don’t be self- centered when you pray. Pray for others and you, too, will be blessed.
5. Mark 11:25 (NLT)- “But when you are praying, first forgive anyone you are holding a grudge against, so that your Father in heaven will forgive your sins, too.” Don’t become a barrier to your own prayers, keeping them from reaching God with your wall of anger.
6. 1 Thessalonians 5:17 (ESV)- “Pray without ceasing.” Prayer should come to you as naturally as breathing. You don’t always have to set up a “prayer-time," though that is a good practice. It's equally important to just pray whenever. When you’re walking, working, or relaxing. It doesn’t have to be lengthy, either—just earnest.
Don’t forget these biblical tips and your prayer life should improve greatly.
