What Makes You Beautiful? Here Are Scriptures
That Tell You

What is beauty? According to our society, it is a face full of makeup, heels too high to walk in, a size 2
waist, long flowing locks and other made-up standards.

But that’s just not a good definition of beauty. What makes you beautiful can be found right in the
pages of the Bible. Here are 5 verses to teach you what is truly beautiful.

1. 1 Peter 3:3-4 (NKJV) "Do not let your adornment be merely outward—arranging the hair, wearing
gold, or putting on fine apparel— rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible
beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God." There is nothing wrong
with being outwardly beautiful and well put together, but it should not be your main focus. As the word
of God says, "beauty is fleeting" (Proverbs 31:30). True beauty lies in a meek and humble heart.

2. Psalms 139:14 (NKJV) "I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are
Your works, and that my soul knows very well." You are beautiful because you are the handiwork of
God (Ephesians 2:10)! God looked at you and saw that you were good, so look in the mirror and see
it for yourself.

3. 1 Timothy 2:9-10 (NIV) "I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety,
adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, but with
good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God."  This is not a condemning verse
against form-fitting, low-cut attire, but rather, an instructional one. You see, your most attractive
feature is your heart for the Lord and you don’t need to show everything to be beautiful. Modesty is a
good thing. The heart of the message is, your assets are not what make you beautiful. Focus instead
on going into the world and putting the love of God on display by serving others, placing their needs
and well-being before your own, as Jesus did for us (Matthew 10:43-45).

4. Psalms 149:4 (KJV) "For the LORD taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with
salvation." Those who depend on God,rather than themselves, will be given the greatest reward:
salvation. Wear your faith as if it is a robe fit for a queen. Those who are willingly obedient to and
dependent on their Savior are effortlessly beautiful.

5. 1 Samuel 16:7 (NIV) "But the LORD said to Samuel, 'Do not consider his appearance or his height,
for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the
outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart.'" It is most important thatGod sees your true
beauty, which a committed heart submitted to His will. People will judge you based on the clothes you
wear and the way you style your hair. But God doesn't care about that! All He desires is that you love
Him "with all your heart, all your soul, and all your mind" (Matthew 22:37).

The next time you feel pressured to fit into society’s mold of beauty, read these scriptures so you
don't forget where your true beauty lies.

Remember: you are beautiful because you are a child of the Most High God and don't let anyone tell
you otherwise.
